Safer Gambling Week 2025 Achieves Unprecedented Engagement

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) in Britain has revealed impressive results from the recent Safer Gambling Week 2025 campaign. This year’s initiative witnessed unparalleled participation in promoting responsible gambling practices across the country.
Record Numbers Setting Deposit Limits
Safer Gambling Week 2025, held from November 17 to 23, achieved a historic level of interaction with responsible gambling tools. Data shows that 281,000 deposit limits were established by 153,960 unique account holders, representing a remarkable 41% growth compared to the previous year.
The BGC highlighted that this marks the fourth consecutive year of rising engagement, with more players utilizing at least one safer gambling option during the campaign period than ever before.
Soaring Safer Gambling Communications and Advertising
The volume of safer gambling messages delivered to customers reached a new high of 10.95 million, a 75% increase year-on-year. These messages were sent through various channels including pop-ups, direct messages, and emails.
Furthermore, operators boosted their investment in safer gambling advertisements by 68%, resulting in 182 million online ad impressions, a 27% increase from the prior year.
Strong Political Support and Leadership Views
The 2025 campaign garnered unprecedented endorsement from senior members across political parties, including notable figures such as Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary for Culture, Media, and Sport Nigel Huddleston MP, and Shadow Gambling Minister Louie French MP.
Grainne Hurst, CEO of BGC, praised the substantial growth in responsible gambling engagement metrics, stating these results reaffirm the positive impact of the initiative and the industry’s dedication to creating a safer playing environment.
“These outstanding figures underscore our industry’s continued focus on maintaining high standards and ensuring that millions who enjoy gambling do so safely and responsibly.”

Commitment to Legal Gambling and Player Protection
Hurst stressed that effective safer gambling tools are found exclusively within the regulated legal gambling sector. She warned that illegal gambling continues to pose a growing risk to player safety and urged gamblers to choose lawful alternatives.
The BGC highlighted that approximately 22.5 million adults engage in gambling each month, making the promotion of safer gambling a critical priority. However, combating harm remains complex due to the expanding presence of illegal gambling activities.
Emergence of Significant Research Efforts
In related developments, the UK has recently inaugurated its largest independent center dedicated to researching gambling-related harms, marking a pivotal step in understanding and mitigating the impacts of gambling on individuals and society.
