Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $178 Million Ahead of Friday’s Draw

Mega Millions Jackpot Remains Unclaimed
The Mega Millions jackpot continues to climb as no one won the grand prize or the Match 5 prizes in the recent drawing. The game is currently experiencing a quiet phase following two jackpot wins in March.
In the latest drawing held on April 28, no player matched all six winning numbers to claim the top prize. Additionally, no ticket matched all five white balls to win the secondary prize. However, a few participants did match four white balls plus the gold Mega Ball, earning themselves substantial five-figure rewards.
The winning numbers for the April 28 draw were 14, 36, 41, 47, 66, and the Mega Ball 15. Had someone matched all numbers choosing the annuity payment, they would have claimed $163 million, or they could have opted for a lump sum of $72.9 million.
The Match 5 prize, for matching just the five white numbers, ranges between $2 million and $10 million depending on the ticket multiplier. However, no player managed to win this prize for the fourth consecutive drawing.
Among the winners, four players hit four white balls plus the Mega Ball. Two of them received $20,000 each, another won $30,000, and one player took home $40,000.
Consequently, the Mega Millions jackpot now stands at $178 million with a cash option of $79.6 million. The upcoming draw is scheduled for this Friday at 11 pm Eastern Time.
Two Mega Millions Jackpots Claimed in 2026
The first two Mega Millions jackpots of 2026 were both claimed in March. The first jackpot went to a fortunate player in Illinois who matched all the winning numbers, later coming forward to claim an impressive $536 million prize.
Shortly after, another jackpot worth $60 million was won in Ohio on St. Patrick’s Day. This prize was claimed by the Happy Trails Trust, whose representative collected the winnings earlier in the month.
