Woman Arrested in Las Vegas Police Sting Targeting Tourist Theft at Paris Casino

Police Operation Targets Tourist Theft on Las Vegas Strip
Las Vegas police recently conducted an operation aimed at apprehending individuals stealing from tourists on the busy Las Vegas Strip. The initiative led to the arrest of a 33-year-old woman accused of taking a decoy purse and being found with an assortment of stolen personal data and hotel key cards.
Details of “Purse Bait” Operation at Paris Las Vegas
On June 8, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department executed a “purse bait” sting at the Paris Las Vegas casino. This strategy involves placing an unattended purse in a visible public area to monitor and catch anyone attempting to steal it rather than return it.
Plainclothes officers left a pink and purple purse on the casino floor near security cameras. Around 10:30 p.m., surveillance noted a woman named B.L., accompanied by a man, using silent signals before taking the purse and placing it in a black backpack. Both individuals then left the casino, where uniformed officers detained them.
Recovered Items and Charges
When questioned, the woman denied knowing the man and claimed she intended to find a casino employee to turn in the purse. However, a search of her backpack revealed multiple suspicious items including methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, numerous credit and debit cards, Social Security cards, identification cards, 19 casino reward cards, and 44 hotel room keys.
Investigators reported that the woman admitted to keeping these cards and sharing their information with others in exchange for drugs or lodging. She also has a prior record that includes charges related to fraud and drug paraphernalia.
She currently faces several charges such as conspiracy to commit grand larceny, possession of stolen identification, and possession of stolen financial cards. According to detention center records, she remains in custody and is scheduled for another court appearance soon.
