Illegal Gambling Operation Discovered in Daytona Beach

Authorities arrested a man in Daytona Beach following a police raid on his residence that uncovered a large illegal gambling operation. The raid took place on Friday, April 10, revealing that the individual was running an unlawful gambling business from his property.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Illegal Gambling in Florida

During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated over 70 gambling machines and nearly $20,000 in cash. The illegal gambling venue was located on the 1200 block of North Nova Road. More than 20 individuals who were present attempted to flee the scene when the authorities arrived.

The suspect, identified as Willie Cord, initially resisted allowing officers to enter but ultimately complied with the search warrant. He has since been released on a $3,000 bail and faces charges related to maintaining a gambling house as well as the manufacturing, ownership, storage, processing, and sale of slot machines, all grouped under a single comprehensive charge.

Police officers described the situation, explaining that someone inside locked the door as they approached. However, they presented the search warrant and informed the individual at the door of their legal authority to conduct the search.

Seizure Details: Over 70 Machines Confiscated

Once inside, officers found numerous gambling machines scattered throughout the venue, some still containing money, suggesting players had recently fled. The total seized equipment included 68 Fire Link slot machines and four Fish Table gambling machines.
