Former NFL Player Involved in Deadly DUI Incident

Henry Ruggs III, once a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, was recently denied parole related to a tragic DUI case. This case stems from a fatal accident where he was responsible for the deaths of a woman and her dog.

The Fatal Crash Caused by Ruggs

The incident dates back over four years, when Ruggs was driving under the influence at an exceptionally high speed of approximately 156 miles per hour in a zone with a 45 miles per hour speed limit. Losing control, his vehicle collided violently with Tina Tintor’s car, resulting in fatal injuries to both Tintor and her dog, Max. Ruggs subsequently admitted guilt to felony DUI causing death and vehicular manslaughter charges.

Denial of Parole for Ruggs

In 2023, Ruggs received a prison sentence ranging from three to ten years. He was initially set to become eligible for parole in August 2026. At a recent hearing, he expressed deep remorse for the accident and the grief inflicted on Tintor’s family, friends, and the community.

“Not a minute goes by that I don’t think of the pain I caused her family, her friends, and the Las Vegas community.”

His legal team also conveyed sympathy towards those affected by the tragedy. Despite these sentiments, the parole board declined to grant parole, and Ruggs must wait until August 2027 to reapply.

Distracted Driving Incident Involving Gambling

Tragically, dangerous driving incidents continue to occur. Earlier this year, a man in Britain caused a multi-vehicle collision while distracted by gambling on his phone. Although there were no deaths, the crash caused serious injury to a pregnant woman, leading to a premature birth. The driver admitted to causing injury by dangerous driving and was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
