Record-Breaking Bingo Jackpot Won on Independence Day at Foxwoods Resort Casino

Historic Bingo Jackpot Celebrated on the Fourth of July
On Independence Day, a fortunate casino patron experienced a monumental moment by winning the largest bingo jackpot in history. This extraordinary event took place at Foxwoods Resort Casino, which aimed to set a new Guinness World Record for the highest bingo payout ever recorded.
Setting a New Guinness World Record
Foxwoods Resort Casino publicly announced its plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the biggest bingo prize just days before the Fourth of July. During their special Firecracker Bingo event, held to honor America’s 250th Independence Day, one player named Aaron P. made history by claiming the jackpot.
Aaron P.’s victory came with a staggering prize of $440,000, securing his place in the record books and solidifying Foxwoods’ achievement in gaming history.
The event attracted around 3,000 participants, and the casino rewarded over $1 million in total prize money throughout the celebration, demonstrating a festive and generous atmosphere for all attendees.
Officials and casino leadership expressed their pride and congratulated Aaron on his incredible win. Jason Guyot, the president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, remarked that this accomplishment was a fitting tribute to the legacy of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
“What the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation established forty years ago was more than a bingo hall—it was a pioneering model. Achieving a Guinness World Record on this milestone anniversary is a meaningful way to honor that legacy,” said Guyot.
Past Incident: Hostage Situation at Foxwoods
Though Foxwoods Resort Casino is known primarily as a place for leisure and large wins, it experienced a serious hostage incident the previous year. A 40-year-old Connecticut resident, David R. Griswold, was involved in a tense standoff with police at the casino.
During the incident, Griswold reportedly restrained two individuals before releasing them and was later apprehended by authorities. He admitted to being under the influence of heroin and cocaine at the time.
Following his arrest, Griswold faced several charges, including carrying a firearm while intoxicated, unlawful restraint, and first-degree assault.
