Michigan Gaming Control Board Strengthens Responsible Gambling Efforts

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken significant steps to enhance responsible gambling protections across the state. These efforts are designed to provide Michigan residents with more robust tools to safeguard themselves against gambling-related harm.

Introducing Gamban: An Innovative Self-Exclusion Tool

As part of this initiative, the MGCB has partnered with Gamban, a self-exclusion program that helps individuals prevent access to online gambling platforms. Gamban offers an additional protective layer by allowing users to block gambling content across various devices and platforms, without needing to enroll in traditional exclusion programs.

Thanks to this collaboration, Michigan residents can now access a free Gamban license, which enables self-exclusion from gambling activities for up to five years. MGCB executive director Henry Williams highlighted the importance of this partnership, emphasizing the state’s dedication to ensuring safe and responsible gaming opportunities.

Comprehensive Protection Across Multiple Devices

Gamban is compatible with multiple operating systems, including macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS, allowing users widespread protection across their personal devices. This comprehensive approach helps prevent access to a broad spectrum of gambling content, supporting consumers in avoiding harmful gambling behaviors.

Supporting Recovery Through Effective Barriers

Matt Zarb-Cousin, Gamban’s director of external affairs, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. He pointed out that the app not only blocks gambling sites and apps but also informs users about available support services in Michigan. This dual approach has been shown to enhance recovery rates and help individuals maintain abstinence in other regions.
