Kane Purdy Takes Helm at BGC Following Leadership Change

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) in the UK has named Kane Purdy as its new non-executive chair after Michael Dugher stepped down from the role of executive chair earlier this year. Purdy brings with him over 20 years of valuable experience in the gaming industry, positioning him well to lead the council into its next chapter.

A Strong Leader with Extensive Industry Background

Kane Purdy currently serves as the managing director of Gamesys Operations Limited, a prominent position within the gaming sector. His appointment as the BGC’s non-executive chair takes effect immediately. Purdy is widely recognized for his comprehensive knowledge of the industry and demonstrated leadership skills.

Among his notable past roles, Purdy has also chaired GamProtect, an initiative dedicated to providing a single customer view aimed at protecting players and enhancing safe gambling standards throughout Great Britain.

In line with recent council decisions, the chair position at BGC will now rotate annually among its members, ensuring diverse leadership perspectives over time.

Emphasizing Collaboration and Industry Responsibility

The appointment of Kane Purdy has been warmly welcomed by BGC’s leadership. Grainne Hurst, CEO of the council, described Purdy as a highly respected figure who comprehends both the challenges and opportunities present in a regulated gaming environment.

She highlighted his commitment to collaboration, noting his proactive approach toward forming partnerships that advance industry standards and promote player safety across the UK.

“I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to champion our members, raise standards and support a well-regulated industry that delivers for customers, the economy and communities across the country.”
