Choctaw Casino Pocola Announces $140M Expansion Plan

Choctaw Nation Invests in Major Expansion for Pocola Casino & Resort
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is committing $140 million to expand and modernize the Choctaw Casino & Resort located in Pocola. This extensive project aims to significantly enhance the resort’s capacity and guest experience, while also contributing to the local economy in a substantial way.
Evolution of Pocola Casino from a Bingo Hall to a Leading Resort Destination
Since its inception as a modest bingo hall in 1994 near the Arkansas border, the Pocola property has undergone considerable growth. Over three decades, it has transformed into an entertainment hotspot featuring a hotel, extensive gaming options, diverse dining venues, and over 7,000 square feet of event facilities.
The upcoming expansion will introduce a new seven-story hotel tower with 130 additional rooms, including enhanced suites. This addition will nearly double the current lodging capacity and enable the resort to welcome more guests from regions such as northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.
Alongside the new hotel tower, the project includes the development of various amenities. These consist of a resort-style swimming pool complete with cabanas and an outdoor bar, a full-service spa dedicated to wellness and relaxation, a 24/7 modern fitness center, and a specialty coffee and tea shop.
Comprehensive Renovations to Existing Facilities and Gaming Areas
The current hotel will undergo upgrades throughout its 118 rooms, featuring refreshed furnishings, new lighting, updated flooring, and modernized bathrooms. Additionally, the casino floor and common areas will be visually and functionally enhanced with updated finishes and lighting systems.
New functional spaces will also be created, including an improved poker room, an enhanced off-track betting area, and facilities for the rewards program. Dining and beverage options across the resort will be revitalized with fresh concepts, updated menus, and a stronger emphasis on craft beverages.
Strengthening Economic Impact and Community Commitment
Tribal leaders emphasize that this investment is intended to reinforce the resort’s role as a key economic driver in LeFlore County. The casino is already one of the largest employers locally, and the expansion is expected to generate additional jobs and attract more visitors to the region.
The project demonstrates the Choctaw Nation’s commitment to long-term growth and community investment. Construction partners include Tutor Perini Construction and JCJ Architecture, with groundbreaking anticipated later this year.
This expansion strategically positions the Choctaw Nation to enhance its influence in the eastern Oklahoma gaming market and surrounding areas, adapting to the evolving regional gaming landscape.
