Two Men Plead Guilty for Robberies Targeting Southern California Cardroom Winners

Background of the Case
Authorities have apprehended two men involved in a string of robberies targeting winners at cardrooms throughout Southern California. The criminals stole over $274,000 in cash and valuable personal property from their victims.
Admission of Guilt and Legal Proceedings
Last Thursday, the suspects pled guilty to robbery charges and agreed to cooperate with the courts, which may influence leniency during sentencing. Despite this, both individuals, identified only as D. N. L. and J. G. G., face substantial prison terms, potentially up to 14 years in federal prison.
Details of the Crimes
The men carried out an alarming series of attacks between May and December 2023, targeting at least 15 victims. They would track their targets, follow them to highway off-ramps, and use force to rob them at gunpoint, often damaging their vehicles in the process. These robberies led to the theft of large sums in cash, designer items, and other valuables.
Specific Incident at the Parkwest Bicycle Casino
One notable robbery occurred on June 17, 2023, when D. N. L., J. G. G., and an accomplice observed two individuals cashing out significant winnings at the Parkwest Bicycle Casino. The suspects then coordinated with a larger group to ambush the victims as they exited via Interstate 710, forcibly stopping their vehicle and stealing approximately $130,000 in cash.
Additional Charges and Sentencing Outlook
Beyond the immediate crimes, D. N. L. faces extra charges for possessing a firearm, which he was prohibited from carrying due to a prior grand theft conviction in San Bernardino County. Both men are scheduled to be sentenced in August and are expected to receive sentences close to the maximum allowed, though parole may be a possibility.
