The UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has selected Emma Floyd as the new director responsible for sports and gambling. Although new to the gambling industry, Floyd brings extensive leadership experience that will strengthen the DCMS team.

Emma Floyd’s Enthusiasm for the Gambling Sector

Announcing her new role on social media, Floyd expressed her eagerness to engage deeply with the gambling industry and to promote meaningful reforms. She highlighted the delicate balance between growth, regulation, and maintaining public trust in sports betting and gambling, which remain popular activities for millions across the UK.

Previously, Floyd worked at the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) as the director of clean energy investment. Her background also includes roles as the director overseeing non-domestic energy affordability and serving as a non-executive director at Great British Energy.

With 17 years in civil service and additional experience at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Floyd has a solid foundation in public sector leadership and policy development.

Floyd is keen to explore the nuances of the sports and gambling sectors, collaborate with DCMS team members, and tackle the various challenges facing the industry. She aims to build strong partnerships with government bodies and organizations integral to the sector’s success.
