Poker Pro Robbed After WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas

Incident Overview
American professional poker player Jared Griener experienced a distressing robbery shortly after participating in the recent World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event held in Las Vegas. The assault happened at his rented accommodation, an Airbnb, where the attackers were reportedly waiting for him.
Attack Details
Griener shared the harrowing experience on social media platform X. After finishing in 218th place at the WSOP Main Event and earning $57,500, he found himself the victim of a violent robbery instead of celebrating his success. Upon returning to his rental home one Sunday evening, he encountered two men who were already present and seemed to be lying in wait for him.
The assailants, described by Griener as two Black men, immediately assaulted and restrained him. They warned that they would kill him if he attempted to move. When coerced, Griener disclosed the location of his backpack in his car. Following this, the intruders bound him with duct tape and placed kitchen plates on his back, enabling them to monitor any movement by sound.
After thoroughly searching the rental, the robbers stole cash and then fled the premises.
Aftermath and Investigation
Once the robbers left, Griener freed himself and sought help from a nearby neighbor, who assisted him in contacting the police. Authorities responded promptly and initiated a crime scene investigation. Footage from a neighbor’s surveillance camera captured the robbers arriving before Griener, suggesting premeditation.
Griener suspects the attackers were familiar with his identity as a poker player and followed him during the WSOP event. The robbers also knew the Airbnb door code, implying prior knowledge or connection to the rental property.
Fortunately, Griener escaped without physical injuries, though understandably shaken by the ordeal. Police launched a helicopter search to locate the suspects, but as of now, they remain at large.
