Mass Shooting Threat Prevented Near Las Vegas Strip Casino Parking

Incident Overview Near Henderson Casino
On Saturday, June 27, an alarming situation unfolded about 10 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, near Henderson’s Sunset Station Casino. A woman contacted 911 to report that her ex-spouse had stolen her car, which was loaded with several firearms. She also alerted authorities to a serious threat involving a potential mass shooting and a “suicide by cop” scenario.
Police Track the Vehicle Using GPS
In response, law enforcement quickly acted, dispatching officers to the caller’s residence roughly 20 minutes after the call. They found the stolen car equipped with a GPS tracking device, which allowed them to locate it near the casino’s parking area at Warm Springs Road and Stephanie Street.
By 11:17 am, officers, alongside casino security, located the vehicle inside the casino’s garage. The suspect was inside, playing loud music and refusing to leave the car when asked. Police coordinated to surround the vehicle with their patrol cars to prevent any escape.
During negotiations, the woman requested a bottle of water. Officers used this moment to attempt a safe arrest, but after a struggle, they had to deploy a taser to subdue her. Once removed from the vehicle, officers discovered that the woman had been sitting on a handgun, and the back seat contained a fully automatic, silenced MP5-style machine gun.
Background and Arrest Details
Further investigation with the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center revealed that the suspect had previously made threatening statements expressing intentions to carry out an active shooter attack in Las Vegas. Searches of the stolen car and her Henderson residence uncovered 52 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
While authorities continue to investigate the motive, FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Delzotto commended the swift cooperation among local police, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and federal agents involved in the case.
The suspect has been detained at the Clark County Detention Center, with arraignment set for July 1. She faces multiple charges including terrorism-related threats, assault with a deadly weapon in a domestic violence context, grand larceny, and resisting arrest with a weapon. Federal charges have yet to be filed.
