Las Vegas Sands Donates $150,000 to Support LGBTQ+ Youth in Las Vegas

Las Vegas Sands Supports LGBTQ+ Center with $150,000 Donation
Las Vegas Sands has generously donated $150,000 to The LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas. This funding will help support a workforce development program aimed at assisting unhoused and housing-insecure youth through the Center’s Espresso Yourself Café initiative.
Empowering Youth Through Workforce Training
The funded program will benefit 20 young adults, ages 18 to 24, by offering them practical job training and valuable work experience via the Espresso Yourself Café’s mobile coffee truck. For three decades, The LGBTQ+ Center has been a vital pillar in the Las Vegas community, providing a safe and inclusive environment along with wellness services, educational programs, events, and support tailored to LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
Longstanding Partnership Between Las Vegas Sands and The LGBTQ+ Center
This donation builds on a continuing partnership that began in 2021 when Las Vegas Sands, through its Sands Cares initiative, contributed to expand the Arlene Cooper Community Health Center. Since that time, the collaboration has deepened, with Sands supporting improvements to health care services, facility upgrades, and organizational administration at The Center.
From 2023 to 2025, The Center also participated in the Sands Cares Accelerator program, a focused capacity-building effort that enhanced its marketing and communications. Upon graduating from this initiative, the organization celebrated increased media presence, strengthened community leadership, and higher national recognition.
Statements from Leadership
John Waldron, CEO of The LGBTQ+ Center, highlighted how the partnership with Las Vegas Sands creates valuable opportunities for vulnerable youth to build confidence and gain real-world job skills within a nurturing and growth-oriented setting.
Ron Reese, Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Corporate Affairs at Las Vegas Sands, emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the company’s global workforce development goals and commitment to addressing youth homelessness in Las Vegas. He expressed optimism about the program delivering significant benefits to both the youth participants and the Center.
