FBI Announces $5,000 Reward in Missouri Casino Robbery Case

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Hollis C. Vanleer Jr., who is accused of involvement in a major theft at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville this year. The robbery, which took place on March 25, resulted in more than $1.2 million being stolen, according to authorities.

Details of the Robbery Incident

Officials report that two masked men wearing dark clothing entered the casino during the afternoon and proceeded to a restricted cash handling area located in the back of the building. Armed with guns, they climbed over a secured counter and accessed a cash drawer, filling a duffel bag with money before fleeing the scene.

Investigations suggest that the robbery involved diversion tactics, possibly including the detonation of explosives outside the casino to divert attention. A bystander tried to intervene during their escape, leading to a brief physical confrontation before the suspects got away.

Casino Employee Arrested, Main Suspect Still Fugitive

One of the suspects, casino worker Benjamin Michael-Dass Charles, was arrested shortly after the heist. Authorities believe he played a significant role in planning the crime, which had been in preparation for several weeks. Evidence such as receipts and homemade explosives found in a vehicle linked to the suspects helped connect Charles to the robbery.

Vanleer Jr., however, remains on the run. He faces charges including first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and assault. An active arrest warrant is in place, but he has yet to be apprehended.

Warnings from Law Enforcement and Ongoing Investigation

Authorities warn the public that Vanleer Jr. is considered dangerous and advise against approaching him. He is described as approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall with black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his left hand. Officials believe he may have ties to parts of Illinois, including Chicago and Normal.

The FBI is continuing to investigate in partnership with state and local agencies. They urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward as it could be crucial to resolving the case.
