Oberlin College President Marvin Krislov wrote a statement in response to students' 14 pages of demands to improve the school's cultural sensitivity.

According to an article published in the liberal arts college newspaper, The Oberlin Review, some students are specifically upset over modifications made to traditional Asian cuisine.

And last month, newsnet5.com reported that one dining hall served meat in a dish labeled vegetarian.

The president responded with a letter that read, in part:

I hear the frustration and the desire for change at Oberlin contained in the document which echoes national themes and concerns about racism and justice. Oberlin College and Conservatory are deeply committed to addressing these concerns, and to ensuring an inclusive and equitable educational experience for our students.

We have already taken important steps on many fronts. But we are not where we want to be.
