Three suspects were arrested following Monday night’s armed robbery at a high-end clothing and sneaker store on West 9th Street in the Warehouse District.
One suspect was arrested by the Gang Impact Unit a short distance away from Krush Clothing with a “large sum of money” in a backpack, according to Cleveland police.
It’s unclear if the money is from the business.
Police responded to a call of shots fired from the business around 7 p.m. Monday evening. No injuries were reported.
A police spokesperson said multiple people were interviewed from this business and had conflicting stories regarding what had occurred.
Two guns were seized. One was from the store and a second was from a vehicle outside.
The robbery is the second in less than three months for the business, which had it’s South Euclid store targeted in December.
An attempted robbery on Dec. 4 led to a 12-hour standoff with police.
Krush Clothing’s owner, Ziad Haq, told newsnet5.com that high-end merchandise was the target last time.
“We see a lot of premium clothing in here,” Haq said. “You know some high-end denim, other shoes and clothes, about $500 or $600.”
High-end clothing, bags and upscale sneakers have been the targets of several thefts in Northeast Ohio in recent month.
On Feb. 8, thieves broke into an Akron store through the roof andstole 20 pairs of Nike sneakers.
In April, a 19-year-old was robbed of more than $3,000 worth of high-end shoes as well as an XBOX and money at a University of Akron apartment.
In December 2014, a 16-year-old was killed in Dayton for trying to rob a man of designer sneakers.
West 9th Street restaurant owner Vladimir Lucic told newsnet5.com that he’s sad to see the trend make it’s way to the Warehouse District.
“It’s is a little bit scary because you don’t see a police tank all the time on the street,” Lucic said. “And it killed the business last night.”
A total of three suspects were arrested but have not yet been charged. Charges may range from felonious assault to having weapons while under disability.
