Ygam Celebrates Reaching 5 Million Children with Gambling Harm Prevention

Ygam, a leading UK charity dedicated to preventing gambling-related harm, has proudly announced that its prevention initiatives have now reached around 5 million children and young people. Founded in 2014, this milestone represents an important achievement in the organization’s ongoing efforts to safeguard young individuals from the risks associated with gambling.
Growth and Expansion of Ygam’s Impact
The charity’s suite of prevention programs has made substantial headway in educating the youth about gambling risks. Ygam aims to extend its influence further, aspiring to reach an additional 5 million young people and protect even more individuals from gambling-related harm.
Since its inception, Ygam has provided specialized training and resources to approximately 32,000 participants. Its efforts have notably included collaboration with the healthcare sector, where more than 5,500 healthcare professionals have received targeted training to support gambling harm prevention.
Parents and caregivers have also benefited from Ygam’s work, with around 4,500 individuals attending regular workshops to learn more about protecting children from gambling dangers.
Alongside growing its presence across the UK, Ygam has achieved longevity in its outreach. Its acclaimed harm prevention materials have been downloaded over 100,000 times, with about half of UK educators now incorporating these resources into their teaching practices.

Helen Martin, Ygam’s interim chief executive officer, highlighted that this milestone goes beyond numbers, representing the meaningful difference the charity has made throughout the UK.
“We are immensely proud of the expanding community united by our mission to protect children’s wellbeing in a world where digital gaming and gambling are increasingly accessible,” said Martin.
She emphasized that Ygam’s message has reached diverse settings including schools, sports organizations, colleges, and community groups, effectively educating millions on how to avoid gambling-related harm.
Martin also noted that the growing demand for Ygam’s programs reflects their importance, and she reaffirmed the charity’s commitment to broadening their reach. The team remains dedicated to equipping every British child with the knowledge and confidence needed to safely navigate the challenges posed by gaming and gambling.
