Wynn Resorts Resumes Construction on Al Marjan Island Project After Temporary Suspension

Construction Resumes on Wynn Al Marjan Island Project
Wynn Resorts, a leading name in international gaming and hospitality, has announced the recommencement of construction on its Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in the United Arab Emirates. The building activities had been temporarily halted due to regional tensions but have now resumed.
Temporary Halt Due to Regional Conflict
The development was briefly paused following the outbreak of conflict involving Iran. As part of retaliatory actions, Iran targeted multiple US military bases in the Middle East, which prompted safety concerns. Because of this instability, Wynn Resorts decided to stop work on the Ras Al Khaimah project temporarily to protect its staff and operations.
In an official update dated March 11, Wynn shared that it had maintained close communication with both the US and UAE governments to stay informed about the evolving security situation. This collaboration reassured Wynn about the effectiveness of the UAE’s defense measures and its capacity to safeguard residents and workers alike.
With these assurances, Wynn confirmed that construction activities on the Al Marjan Island resort have now recommenced. The company highlighted that normal business operations have continued for much of the local population despite the regional unrest.
Wynn further stated that rigorous safety protocols have been adopted to ensure the well-being of all employees on the project site. Their architectural and design teams, alongside the resort’s executive leadership overseeing operational plans, have returned to advance development work.
The company will continue monitoring the geopolitical climate closely and expressed gratitude for the dedication of its teams based in the UAE.
Recent Cyberattack Targets Wynn Resorts
Separately, Wynn Resorts recently experienced a significant cybersecurity incident involving the compromise of approximately 800,000 internal records. The company confirmed the breach but has not disclosed whether it intends to comply with a ransom demand purportedly made by the attackers.
Although Wynn stated there is no indication that customer data was exposed, legal actions have been filed by customers accusing the company of failing to adequately encrypt sensitive information and protect it from breaches.
