Vietnamese Police Rescue Two Chinese Nationals Kidnapped After Casino Gambling Incident

Rescue of Two Chinese Nationals in Vietnam
Vietnamese authorities recently intervened to save two Chinese men who were kidnapped following a gambling-related dispute at a local casino. This incident highlights the risks faced by foreign nationals involved in gambling abroad.
Background of the Incident
The two men had accumulated a large gambling debt at a luxury casino located in Quang Nam Province. Unable to repay the substantial amount, they became victims of kidnapping by individuals to whom they owed money.
Details of the Kidnapping
Identified as Wang Xiaoci and Li Yao Zong, the men had borrowed hundreds of thousands of yuan during their visit to the Hoiana Casino earlier in September to continue gambling. When they failed to settle their debts, their abductors demanded ransom, threatening harm if their families did not pay.
Police Intervention and Arrests
Although the Chinese government typically steps in during such situations, in this case, a friend of the kidnapped men alerted the Vietnamese police after witnessing the abduction. The authorities quickly located the victims’ whereabouts, conducting a successful raid that led to the arrest of five suspects, including one Chinese national believed to be involved in the kidnapping.
Warnings About Cross-Border Gambling Risks
Law enforcement officials emphasized that this case serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers tied to gambling across borders. They urged visitors to be wary of unofficial credit offers, which are often extended by third parties rather than licensed casino establishments.
