Vietnam Aims to Simplify Casino Access for Local Players

Vietnam is exploring ways to make its land-based gambling sector more accessible to local residents who meet the legal gambling age. The goal is to reduce stringent regulations while still maintaining a safe gaming environment for players.

Proposed Entry Fee Could Replace Financial Requirements

The government is considering replacing the current financial capacity verification with an entry fee system. This approach, seen as more practical by the Ministry of Finance, is inspired by Singapore’s model, which uses entry fees to encourage more visitors while eliminating complicated entry criteria.

Under this proposal, Vietnamese locals wishing to gamble would pay an entry fee of approximately $100 for every 24-hour period spent in the casino. Additionally, players must be at least 21 years old and not listed on any exclusion lists.

Strict Conditions for Participating Casinos

Although still in draft form and not yet implemented, the plan includes a pilot phase. Casinos that choose to participate must comply with strict regulatory requirements, including maintaining continuous surveillance systems. These systems will monitor all entrances and exits to ensure proper oversight.
