UK Regulator Approves Sportradar’s Purchase of IMG Arena

On October 3, the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced it has completed its review of Sportradar’s proposed acquisition of IMG Arena, giving the green light for the merger to proceed.

Details of the CMA’s Approval

Earlier this year, Sportradar proposed to acquire IMG Arena from Endeavour Holdings in a deal valued at $125 million. This acquisition is set to strengthen Sportradar’s position by adding another key sports data provider to its portfolio.

As part of the regulatory process, the CMA sought public feedback beginning July 11 to assess if the merger could significantly reduce competition within relevant UK markets.

Following this, on August 29, the CMA officially announced it was launching a formal investigation into the merger, which began on September 1. Originally, the authority had set October 24 as the deadline to decide whether a more in-depth second phase investigation would be necessary.

However, the CMA reached its conclusion earlier than expected and has now authorized the transaction to move forward. In its statement, the regulator confirmed it had cleared Sportradar Group AG’s acquisition of IMG Arena US Parent, LLC, with the full decision details to be published soon.

Sportradar previously anticipated completing the merger in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending all regulatory approvals.

Sportradar Enhances Its Partnership with Bundesliga

In a related development, Sportradar expanded its collaboration with Bundesliga International in August. This ongoing partnership with the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga’s broadcasting arm aims to boost fan engagement through innovative offerings.

The two organizations unveiled several new products as part of this renewal, including Live Playing Markets, 4Sight Streaming, and an Enhanced Live Match Tracker, all designed to enhance the live football experience.

Officials highlighted that this strengthened partnership will serve as a platform for continuous innovation, helping Bundesliga maintain its leadership in delivering cutting-edge football content to fans worldwide.
