Major Bust Disrupts Illegal Gambling Network in Thailand

Authorities in Thailand have successfully dismantled an illegal gambling ring centered in Khlong Luang, resulting in the arrest of the operation’s treasurer and the confiscation of substantial cash and assets. This criminal network primarily ran its activities through an online platform.

Seizure of Cash, Luxury Items, and Property

During a raid on a residential property believed to be the financial core of the illegal organization, officials detained a 30-year-old man responsible for managing the funds. They recovered approximately 28 million Thai Baht, equivalent to about $865,000, in cash and assorted valuables.

The gambling website, known as Auto888vip.com, reportedly handled transactions amounting to 20 million Baht ($618,000) every month and attracted around 3,000 users monthly. The police also seized luxury goods such as high-end watches and vehicles, suggesting the operation funneled its profits into upscale assets.

The authorities have frozen the residence, indicating that the illicit earnings were being invested into real estate. Investigations continue with the suspicion that more individuals are involved beyond those already apprehended.

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Illegal Gambling Across Thailand

This recent crackdown follows a similar police operation in June, which targeted a land-based illegal gambling establishment inside a warehouse in Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi. Unlike the online gambling site, this venue operated as a clandestine casino offering various games and slot machines in an air-conditioned environment.

That raid resulted in the arrest of 54 people, including both local citizens and foreigners.

Separately, a case emerged involving a 35-year-old Thai woman accused of manipulating Buddhist monks into paying gambling debts. She allegedly seduced nine monks, recorded compromising material, and used it to extort money. Reports from the Thai Royal Police revealed she had gambled away approximately $11.9 million.
