Spribe Faces Regulatory Action in Sweden

Gaming provider Spribe has been issued a warning in Sweden after it was found to be distributing gaming content to companies without the proper licenses. The Swedish regulator, Spelinspektionen, imposed a fine of SEK 5,000 (approximately $544) and demanded that Spribe immediately stop supplying these unlicensed operators.

Content Found on Unlicensed Platforms

Although Spribe holds a valid Swedish gaming license and has been operating legally since July 1, 2023, the company was recently discovered providing games to platforms that are not authorized under Swedish law. This misconduct violates the Swedish Gaming Act, prompting regulatory intervention.

After an investigation, Spelinspektionen confirmed that Spribe’s games were available on several unlicensed websites. The company was instructed to halt these activities and submit a compliance report detailing corrective steps.

On December 1, Spribe responded by confirming it had taken swift measures to remove its games from all unauthorized sites. The company expressed strong commitment to resolving the issue promptly and seriously.

Furthermore, Spribe identified unauthorized games infringing on its intellectual property rights, highlighting additional concerns.

Spribe Reinforces Commitment to Regulatory Compliance

Spribe clarified that the distribution to unlicensed operators occurred through a third-party aggregator beyond its direct control. It asserted that it never knowingly provided or modified software for firms lacking the necessary Swedish license.

Due to the company’s quick adherence to regulatory demands, the penalty was limited to a warning and a fine.
