Introducing a New Challenger in UK Betting

A London-based start-up named The Game Tribe is preparing to introduce a fresh concept in the UK betting scene. Founded by former employees of BDO, this innovative company is focusing less on traditional odds and more on creating shared, social experiences for bettors. They have recently filed an application for a gambling software and pool betting license with the UK Gambling Commission.

A Fresh Approach Led by Experienced Founders

The Game Tribe positions itself as an alternative to conventional sports betting. Planning to launch around the busy summer soccer season, the team aims to disrupt the market by offering something new. The founders come from strong backgrounds in finance and technology and have a vision to transform the typical sports betting experience into something more engaging.

The leadership team includes CEO Maximilian Macdonald and co-founders Tom Maynell and Jordan Twiss, all formerly affiliated with BDO. Additionally, Jessica Lea, the chief technology officer, brings valuable expertise from her time at major companies like The Walt Disney Company, John Lewis & Partners, and SiriusXM.

Feeling that modern betting has become overly transactional, The Game Tribe focuses on pool-based betting where participants wager against each other instead of the house. Their model incorporates elements from fantasy sports and lottery-style pools, presented through a visually appealing game interface.

Expanding Horizons with Social and Fast-Paced Games

The company’s early products have a casino-style look and feel, emphasizing rapid game rounds, social interaction, and results that are easy to share. Currently, two games are ready for release, with more in development. The Game Tribe intends to provide their product as a plug-in that operators can easily integrate alongside existing sportsbook and casino offerings.

Promoting responsible gambling is a key priority for the company. By eliminating fixed odds and encouraging competition directly between players, they strive to offer a more transparent and safer betting environment. This novel approach will be closely evaluated by UK regulators, known for their strict requirements on product design, marketing, and player protection.

Growth Plans and International Ambitions

Behind the scenes, The Game Tribe is growing steadily, employing nine people across the UK and South Africa. They have secured initial funding from industry investors and plan to raise more capital following their product launch. Their future aims include expanding operations beyond the UK market.
