Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Assault Incident

Overview of the Lawsuit Against Santa Fe Station
On January 25, a lawsuit was filed in Clark County District Court naming Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino as the defendant. The case alleges the property did not enforce proper safety measures, which led to a female guest being assaulted on site.
Details of the Allegations
The complaint accuses the casino of neglecting to implement an effective security system or warning protocols to protect guests from foreseeable violent acts. Specifically, the plaintiff, Betty Ferlino, claims the casino failed in hiring, supervising, and managing its security personnel appropriately. The alleged attack occurred on November 15, 2025, when two individuals reportedly approached and physically assaulted her on the casino premises.
Plaintiff’s Claims and Compensation Sought
Ferlino is pursuing damages exceeding $15,000 for personal injuries. Additionally, she seeks compensation for medical costs incurred, as well as past and future losses related to household services, wages, earning capabilities, and compensation for physical and emotional suffering resulting from the incident.
Frequent Criminal and Legal Issues in Casinos
Casinos frequently find themselves targeted in lawsuits due to criminal incidents occurring on their premises. Patrons often raise security concerns after experiencing or witnessing violent acts. Apart from physical crimes, casinos have also faced cyberattacks, leading to legal complaints against major casino operators.
Casinos’ Legal Responses and Past Incidents
When valid claims arise, casinos may opt to settle cases outside of court to resolve disputes efficiently, but they are also prepared to defend themselves in litigation when necessary. The Santa Fe Station itself was involved in a separate shooting incident in 2021, where the suspect was apprehended. In another unrelated event, a casino patron in Ohio was fatally shot after the assailant traced him from the casino location.
