Pennsylvania Sees Significant Growth in Gaming Revenue for January 2026

Pennsylvania’s Gaming Market Shows Solid Growth in Early 2026
Pennsylvania’s gaming sector reported notable gains in January 2026, according to the latest official figures. The surge in revenue was largely driven by strong online casino performance, which significantly boosted the state’s overall gaming earnings during the month.
Statewide Revenue and Tax Contributions Increase
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board revealed that total gaming revenue, including fantasy contests, climbed to nearly $591 million—a rise of over 11% compared to January 2025. This positive trend resulted in gaming operators contributing approximately $250 million in taxes for the month.
Traditional slot machines generated close to $189 million, maintaining stability with a slight year-over-year increase. Land-based table games also saw growth, achieving revenues just under $76 million, which is nearly 3% higher than the previous January.
iGaming and Sports Betting Performance
Online gaming (iGaming) experienced remarkable growth, with revenue reaching $249.3 million in January 2026, marking an 18.6% increase from the same month last year. Meanwhile, the sports betting segment handled $782.4 million in wagers, showing a decrease of over 10% year-over-year, but the taxable revenue from sports betting rose sharply by almost 39% to $71.4 million.
Fantasy contests saw a decline in revenue, dropping close to 30% to $1.9 million, whereas video gaming terminals held steady with $3.2 million in earnings.
Leading Casinos and Operators in Pennsylvania
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the market with a total revenue of $111.5 million, a 20% increase compared to January 2025. Following closely, Valley Forge Casino Resort generated $105.8 million, rising over 8%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $57.2 million, up nearly 12%.
Some operators experienced dramatic shifts: Presque Isle Downs and Casino’s revenue soared by nearly 57% to $14.6 million, whereas Mount Airy Casino Resort saw a revenue decline of nearly 14%, totaling $15.9 million.

Despite a small seasonal dip, Parx Casino led in slot machine revenues with $29.2 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem topped the table game segment, posting $21.2 million in revenue, an increase of almost 9% year-over-year.
In the online casino sector, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course dominated with $96.2 million in iGaming revenue, representing a key part of its overall earnings. Valley Forge Casino Resort excelled in sports betting, managing a $276.3 million handle and $27.7 million in betting revenue.
