Overview of Ontario’s iGaming Market Performance

The iGaming sector in Ontario has experienced a noticeable slowdown, not due to external factors like a drop in visitors, but primarily because of the typical seasonal dip that occurs during the summer months.

In June, total wagers dropped by 10% compared to the previous month, reaching CAD 7.26 billion. Correspondingly, revenue decreased by 9% to CAD 307 million, reflecting a downturn from May’s figures.

Despite this decline, the amount wagered in June still surpassed that of June 2024, although it fell short when compared to the CAD 8.07 billion placed in May 2025. This slowdown comes as the market is set to undergo a comprehensive evaluation by provincial authorities.

Impact on Player Activity and Spending

The summer slump also affected player engagement, with the number of active accounts dropping to approximately 1.013 million, marking a 5% decline from the previous month. Average player spending similarly fell by 4%, averaging around CAD 303 per individual, according to the latest provincial regulatory report.

Sports Betting Sees the Largest Decline

The casino gaming segment remains the leading category, commanding an 88% share of the market with CAD 6.4 billion wagered. This figure represents a 25.2% increase from May, showing signs of growth despite the overall market slowdown.

In contrast, sports betting suffered the steepest drop, decreasing by 21% from May to June. This decline aligns with the reduced number of professional and college sports events available for betting during the summer period.

Market Landscape and Operator Activity

Ontario’s iGaming market currently features around 50 licensed operators, supporting 86 active websites. Among local brands, Titanplay has recently re-entered the market, optimistic about generating stronger performance moving forward.
