NorthStar Gaming Announces Leadership Changes After CEO and Chair Departure

Canadian gambling and sports betting operator NorthStar Gaming Holdings has revealed significant changes in its leadership following the exit of its CEO and board chair, Michael Moskowitz. The company has appointed new executives to lead the organization through this transition.
Michael Moskowitz Steps Down, Corey Goodman Takes Interim CEO Role
NorthStar Gaming confirmed that Michael Moskowitz has stepped down from his roles as chief executive officer and board chair. In response, the board appointed Corey Goodman, a founding member and the current chief development officer and general counsel, as the interim CEO.
Goodman is regarded as a seasoned leader with deep industry knowledge. His focus will be on steering NorthStar Gaming toward optimizing costs, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving both revenue streams and profitability. He will collaborate closely with the board to achieve these goals and ensure the company’s stability during this period.
This leadership shift follows NorthStar’s recent third quarter financial report, which highlighted risks around potential breaches of agreements with creditors. The report noted concerns regarding cash flow and liquidity, suggesting that these may not be sufficient to cover all advertising expenses and debt obligations. While the company expects to manage these challenges, there remains a possibility that it may need to restructure or seek additional financing.
Dean MacDonald Named New Board Chair; Barry Shafran Resigns
With Moskowitz’s departure from the board chair position, NorthStar appointed Dean MacDonald to fill this role. MacDonald expressed strong support for Goodman’s appointment as interim CEO, emphasizing Goodman’s invaluable contributions and leadership qualities.
MacDonald stated that Goodman’s balanced and focused leadership approach will provide continuity and help position NorthStar Gaming for sustained growth and improved performance.
Separately, Barry Shafran, who served as a board member and audit committee chair, has resigned from his posts. As of now, NorthStar has not announced a replacement for Shafran.
