Mohegan Announces CEO Ray Pineault’s Departure After 25 Years of Service

Ray Pineault to Step Down as CEO of Mohegan
Mohegan has announced that its president and CEO, Ray Pineault, will be stepping down after more than two decades with the organization. Pineault has chosen to leave his position to dedicate more time to his family.
End of a 25-Year Tenure on December 28, 2025
Pineault’s resignation will take effect on December 28, 2025, marking the conclusion of 25 years serving the Mohegan Tribe. He assumed the CEO role in 2021, overseeing the company’s recovery efforts following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
His journey with Mohegan began in 2001 as a senior attorney within the tribal government. Over the years, he held several key leadership roles, including president and general manager of the Mohegan Sun resort and chief operating officer of the company.
His departure comes amid challenging times for Mohegan, including difficulties encountered in South Korea and Bain Capital’s acquisition of the Mohegan INSPIRE resort project.
Pineault Expresses Confidence in Mohegan’s Future
Upon announcing his departure, Pineault expressed optimism about Mohegan’s ongoing momentum despite recent obstacles. He stated that now is an opportune moment to hand over responsibilities, reflecting on how honored he feels to have served the tribe for so many years, and looks forward to spending more time with his family.
He shared, “I am proud of what we have achieved, including a successful refinancing earlier this year. I want to thank the Tribal Council and the Mohegan Tribe for entrusting me with this role. I have always been mindful of the impact our business successes have on current and future generations of Mohegans.”
Pineault also extended his gratitude to all colleagues and the thousands of Mohegan employees across the United States and Canada who have supported him throughout his career.
Tribal Council Chair Honors Pineault’s Legacy
James Gessner Jr., chair of the Mohegan tribal council, publicly thanked Pineault for his dedicated service, recognizing the immense efforts and sacrifices made for the tribe’s benefit over the last 25 years.
Gessner remarked, “On behalf of the Board and our Tribe, we deeply appreciate everything you have done to safeguard the Mohegan people for thirteen generations to come. We wish you happiness and blessings in the next chapter of your journey.”
Plans for a Seamless Leadership Transition
Mohegan is currently implementing measures to ensure a smooth transition as leadership responsibilities are transferred following Pineault’s departure.
