Michigan Lottery Winners Celebrate Big Cash Prizes

The Michigan Lottery has recently celebrated two players who have each taken home impressive cash prizes. One winner found success through an instant scratch ticket, while the other hit a substantial amount playing Powerball.
Instant Ticket Wins $500,000 for Macomb County Resident
A 69-year-old man from Macomb County struck it rich by winning a $500,000 prize playing the Spectacular Wild Time instant game. The player shared that he traditionally purchased only $2 tickets but recently started trying the $5 tickets, a decision that ultimately paid off handsomely.
He described his moment of winning: initially seeing a matching number six on his scratch ticket, he thought the prize might be a small amount like $5 or $10. However, as he kept revealing the prize amounts, he noticed multiple zeros lining up, quickly realizing he had won a significant sum. It was an exhilarating and almost unbelievable moment for him.
This fortunate ticket was purchased at Little Mack Beer & Wine, located at 28480 Little Mack Avenue in Saint Clair Shores. The Michigan Lottery also mentioned that there are still two more top prizes of $500,000 available in this game, along with several other prizes ranging from $2,500 to $25,000.
Powerball Player from Berrien County Claims $150,000
Meanwhile, Michael Werner from Berrien County won a remarkable $150,000 playing Powerball. What made his win even more notable was that it came on only his second time playing the game.
Werner secured his prize by matching four out of five white balls and the Powerball. The base prize for this combination is $50,000, but because he had activated the Power Play feature, his winnings were tripled to $150,000.
Michael recalled that his first Powerball play was just one drawing prior, and he used the previous winnings to buy his second ticket. He selected his own numbers, and recognized them immediately when the results were announced.
Werner plans to use his winnings to cover travel expenses and pay off some bills. For reference, the winning numbers in the September 1 drawing were 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with a Powerball number of 5.
