MGM Resorts and BetMGM Boost Responsible Gambling Efforts with Over $1 Million Commitment for PGAM

Expanded Commitment to Responsible Gambling Announced
MGM Resorts International together with BetMGM have declared an enhanced dedication to responsible gambling, contributing over $1 million ahead of Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM). As efforts increase nationally to promote safer gaming during March, both brands reaffirm their commitment to protecting players from potential gambling harms.
Funding Research to Support Safer Sports Betting
The companies have jointly pledged $450,000 to the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) to sponsor innovative research focused on sports wagering and player behavior. Spanning three years, this study aims to uncover effective practices for sustainable gaming by analyzing influences on player actions and emerging protective trends.
Stephen Martino, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts, emphasized the rapid growth of sports betting and the need for comprehensive understanding of its impact on gamblers.
“Investing in high-quality research enables us to rely on valuable data and insights, which will ultimately help us support our patrons, communities, and industry,” he noted.
BetMGM’s Chief Compliance Officer, Rhea Loney, highlighted that PGAM acts as a crucial reminder of the industry’s collective responsibility to empower and assist players.
Support for Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment
In total, MGM Resorts and BetMGM plan to allocate $850,000 during 2026 toward organizations dedicated to problem gambling prevention and treatment. This includes continued sponsorship of the annual Nevada Council on Problem Gambling Conference by MGM Resorts.
Throughout March and beyond, the operators will enhance safer gaming messaging across their physical casinos, sportsbooks, and digital channels. Initiatives will include increased signage, informative messages, and QR codes encouraging players to take breaks or establish wagering limits. Additionally, MGM has launched a guest survey through its rewards program to assess player perceptions of its safer gaming efforts.
A new PGAM email campaign will spotlight the shared GameSense program. To date, over 2,000 GameSense Advisors have been trained, ready to offer guidance and support to those facing gambling challenges.
Moreover, MGM and BetMGM will participate in the 13th annual Gambling Disorder Screening Day hosted by Cambridge Health Alliance.
Further Responsible Gambling Initiatives Announced
MGM will soon introduce “Earn More. Play Smart.”, a campaign reminding guests that membership entails responsibility alongside rewards. Meanwhile, both MGM and BetMGM will promote safer gambling through social media campaigns and continue providing extensive safer gaming training to their employees.
They will maintain support for the American Gaming Association’s public service campaigns such as Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. and Play Smart from the Start.
Additionally, BetMGM is entering its sixth consecutive year partnering with EPIC Global Solutions to deliver lived experience sessions for its staff, enhancing understanding of gambling-related issues.
