MGM China Denounces Deepfake Video Impersonating Chairperson Ms. Pansy Ho

MGM China Holdings Limited, a leading operator of gaming and hospitality resorts in Greater China, has recently been targeted by a fraudulent deepfake video created using artificial intelligence (AI).
This deceptive video falsely depicted Ms. Pansy Ho, the company’s chairperson and executive director, promoting a fabricated investment scheme with unrealistic promises of massive returns. The company has strongly condemned the video as completely fraudulent and unauthorized.
Clarification of No Association
MGM China, which recently reported its best quarterly performance due to increased tourism in Macau, booming gaming revenues, and upgraded luxury offerings, emphasized that neither the company nor Ms. Ho have any involvement with the fictitious investment plan shown in the video.
The company reiterated that the deepfake was neither produced nor distributed by them or Ms. Ho in any way. Ms. Ho holds a significant 15% share in MGM Grand Paradise, one of the six licensed operators authorized to run casino games in Macau, where she also serves as managing director.
The operator of MGM Cotai and MGM Macau strongly condemned the impersonation and misrepresentation, announcing that it reserves all legal rights to pursue those responsible to protect its interests.
Furthermore, MGM China has formally requested that all parties involved immediately stop the dissemination of this fraudulent video and its misleading claims to prevent further spread of misinformation.
Stay Alert and Verify Information
The company cautioned the public and media to remain alert and verify any updates through MGM China’s official communication channels, which are the sole outlets for authentic news and announcements.
MGM China also warned that spreading false information could result in legal and financial penalties. The company affirmed its commitment to operating within lawful and regulatory guidelines.
This incident follows a similar case earlier this year where Hong Kong actor Louis Koo was impersonated through an AI deepfake video promoting an unauthorized Malaysian online gambling platform.
