Man Arrested on Open Murder Charges Following Fatal Incident at Street Takeover

Arrest After Month-Long Search
A 19-year-old suspect, Joredyn Hubbard, was apprehended after a month-long police investigation related to a fatal shooting that took place in November.
Authorities from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Hubbard, who is accused of fatally shooting a man during a street takeover event.
The arrest occurred on December 26, carried out by detectives from the department’s Major Violator Section. Hubbard is currently held at the Clark County Detention Center facing open murder charges.
Details of the Fatal Street Takeover Incident
On November 8, police responded to reports of a potential street takeover at the intersection of Patrick Lane and Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas.
Upon arrival, officers were informed by a woman that a shooting had occurred, leaving a victim critically injured. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to the injuries several days later.
Following the shooting, law enforcement appealed to the public for any information, providing descriptions of two suspects: a black adult male and a white or Hispanic female. Details about their clothing were also shared to assist in the search.
Thanks to the efforts of a specialized unit focused on tracking serious offenders, the alleged shooter was located and taken into custody in late December.
Street Takeovers: An Ongoing Public Safety Concern
This is not an isolated incident. Earlier in July 2025, a large-scale disturbance involving around 100 youths erupted near the Meadows Mall amusement area, highlighting ongoing challenges with street takeovers in the region.
Similar events have occurred in other parts of the country. For example, a street takeover in Queens, New York, resulted in multiple vehicles being involved, a car set ablaze, and an assault on a couple.
Across the United States, street takeovers have become an escalating problem, prompting law enforcement agencies to take strict measures.
Authorities nationwide have warned that anyone participating in these dangerous gatherings risks arrest, with their vehicles subject to confiscation.
