London Casino Seeks $5.33M from Saudi Sheikh Over Unpaid Debt

Casino Pursues Unpaid Debt from Saudi Sheikh
A prestigious London casino is demanding repayment of a substantial debt estimated at £4 million, or approximately $5.33 million, from an 82-year-old Saudi Arabian sheikh. The outstanding sum stems from a credit line that was extended but remains unsettled to this day.
Longstanding Relationship and Debt Default
The individual in question, Sheikh Hassan Eneny, has enjoyed a long association with the casino, having been a member since 1994 and regularly attending for many years. Despite this history, the credit extended to him in 2018 has not been repaid, leaving the debt unresolved after seven years.
Allegations of Payment with Invalid Funds
The casino, Les Ambassadeurs, reports that payments linked to the Sheikh’s credit arrangement were made with a bad check, complicating the matter. This case is not isolated; the casino has experienced challenges in recovering credit from other clients as well.
Legal Proceedings and Other Similar Cases
The dispute is set to advance in London’s High Court next month. A prior judgment in 2021 ruled against the sheikh, yet the debt remains unpaid. This situation echoes other legal battles faced by the casino, including a prominent case involving Chinese businessman Su Yongbo, who owes a significantly larger sum of £10 million ($13.3 million).
