Light & Wonder Prepares for iGaming Launch in the Philippines

Light & Wonder’s Expansion into the Asian Market
Light & Wonder is preparing for a significant expansion in Asia with its upcoming launch of an iGaming platform in the Philippines. The company recently became the first international systems aggregator and content provider to receive accreditation from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), enabling its official entry into the market.
Establishing a Presence in the Philippines
The Philippines will become Light & Wonder’s 47th regulated market globally, and notably its first in Asia. The announcement was shared at the Philippine iGaming Symposium in Manila, where the company outlined its strategic approach to the local market.
This development comes amid rapid growth in the country’s eGames sector. PAGCOR’s chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, recently highlighted the industry’s impressive milestone of generating $1.2 billion in gross gaming revenue in the first seven months of 2025.
Light & Wonder aims to leverage this momentum to establish itself as a key player in the region’s gaming industry.
Bringing Familiar Games to the Online Market
A core aspect of Light & Wonder’s strategy is to introduce digital versions of well-known land-based casino games rather than creating entirely new titles. Magdalena Podhorska-Okolow, vice-president commercial – MD Europe, iGaming, emphasized the company’s focus on leveraging existing popular games that Filipino players already enjoy.
More than 50 game titles have been submitted for regulatory approval, many of which are beloved casino floor favorites. The company’s omnichannel approach ensures a seamless connection between its land-based and online gaming platforms, allowing players to enjoy familiar experiences across both environments.
Jackpot products accessible through both channels will also be available, enabling players to participate either online or in physical casinos. This strategy aims to attract new online players while maintaining engagement across both platforms.
A Vast Portfolio and Local Commitment
In addition to its own titles, Light & Wonder offers an extensive portfolio through aggregation, featuring over 5,000 games from more than 100 different providers. This wide range of options is designed to appeal to the diverse preferences of local players.
The company has established a new office in Clark, Philippines, and hired local iGaming professionals to support the launch. Preparations include integration with operators ahead of the platform’s debut.
Light & Wonder also recently formed a strategic partnership with OpenTag and FIRST aiming to rejuvenate the B2B gaming market in Latin America and other regions, reflecting their broader ambitions beyond the Philippines.
