Las Vegas Visitor Trends and Growing Sports Influence in 2025

Rise in Sports Impact on Las Vegas Tourism
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has shared its 2025 Visitor Profile report, outlining significant trends in visitor behavior. One standout development is a remarkable increase in spending on sporting events, which has nearly doubled compared to previous years, alongside greater expenditures on attractions.
Sports as a Major Attraction for Visitors
Las Vegas is increasingly becoming a hotspot for sports fans, with more visitors attending live games during their trips. In 2025, 13% of tourists went to sporting events, up from 10% the year before. These guests tend to be high-spenders, staying longer, traveling in larger groups, and showing higher rates of repeat visits.
The city’s efforts to attract professional sports teams, including NFL and NHL franchises, have played a crucial role in drawing these visitors. Additionally, the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix has contributed significantly to visitor numbers, despite some previous tensions with local businesses.
Gambling remains a key activity, with 81% of visitors engaging in gaming in 2025, compared to 76% in 2021. The average gaming budget rose to nearly $858. Interestingly, gamblers are visiting fewer casinos, averaging 1.7 venues in 2025 down from 2.2 in 2022, suggesting a trend towards concentrated stays within integrated resort complexes.
Visitor Demographics and Preferences
The average visitor age has dropped to 41.2 years, while a notable 44% earn $150,000 or more annually. Unmarried visitors now make up 38% of the total. Generation Z accounts for 7% of tourists and tends to engage less in gambling, with about 70% participating, in contrast to 82% of Millennials. Instead, younger visitors gravitate towards nightlife, concerts, and immersive entertainment experiences.
Social media influencers are increasingly shaping travel choices, with around 12% of visitors consulting them. These influencer-driven travelers typically spend more, particularly on shopping, averaging $510 compared to $182 among other tourists.
Challenges and Visitor Satisfaction
Despite positive trends, cost remains a significant concern for many visitors, reflected in decreased spending on food, beverages, and shopping amid ongoing economic pressures. Recent controversies over high prices at casinos, such as a $13 charge for a candy bar at a major hotel, have fueled some frustration.
Nonetheless, overall visitor satisfaction has surged, with 87% rating their experience as “very satisfied” in 2025, a considerable increase from 54% in 2024. However, this may be linked to the rising proportion of repeat visitors, as first-timers dropped from 20% in 2021 to 10% last year, highlighting the city’s challenge in attracting new guests alongside maintaining strong visitor loyalty.
