Las Vegas Visitor Considers Lawsuit After Scorpion Sting in Hotel Room

Unexpected Pain During a Las Vegas Stay
Visits to Las Vegas casinos are typically filled with excitement, entertainment, and memorable experiences. However, one guest had a very different outcome after encountering a painful incident during his hotel stay. A visitor suffered a scorpion sting while inside his hotel room, turning what was meant to be a pleasant trip into a distressing ordeal.
The Sting and Its Impact
Sulaiman Lutale traveled to Las Vegas in May 2025 for business, choosing to stay at the Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino. During his stay, he was stung on the arm by an Arizona bark scorpion, the most venomous scorpion found in the United States. Although fatalities from this sting are extremely rare, the experience is usually accompanied by sharp pain, swelling, and sometimes numbness in the affected area.
After the incident, Lutale’s roommate recorded the scorpion as evidence before killing it. Lutale later expressed disappointment with the hotel, noting that they did not offer an apology for the pain and discomfort he endured. He is hopeful the situation can be resolved without legal action, though his attorney stressed the importance of guest safety even in more affordable accommodations.
History of Similar Incidents
This situation is not isolated. Scorpions are known for their ability to infiltrate rooms, and a number of visitors have experienced similar encounters in Las Vegas. While many casinos implement strict pest control measures, the issue persists due to the creatures’ agility.
In a previous case, a guest at The Venetian was stung in a particularly sensitive area, enduring severe pain and embarrassment, which was compounded by inappropriate behavior from staff. Beyond scorpions, other pests like bed bugs have also caused problems for hotel guests and led to legal complaints.
