KSA Appoints Jaap Wieland as Third Chair of Objections Advisory Committee

Introduction of Jaap Wieland to the Objections Advisory Committee
The Dutch gambling authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has recently welcomed Jaap Wieland as the latest member of its Objections Advisory Committee. Wieland will assume the role of the committee’s third independent chairperson.
Wieland’s Legal Expertise to Enhance Committee’s Work
Effective from July 15, Jaap Wieland will serve a three-year term as the third independent chair of the Objections Advisory Committee. He will collaborate with the current co-chairs Adriane Koppe and Monique van Oers in overseeing the committee’s responsibilities.
The Objections Advisory Committee is responsible for evaluating complaints within the gambling sector and considering feedback from shareholders concerning the regulatory environment in the Netherlands.
With a strong legal background, Wieland is expected to significantly contribute to the committee’s review of regulatory matters. His experience includes practicing law, lecturing at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Law, and working with the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State.
KSA Takes Action Against Illegal Affiliate Marketing Platforms
Recently, the KSA moved against three companies—SBM Holding Group, Sun Block Media Labs 2.0 Ltd, and JEF Holdings Ltd—for promoting unauthorized gambling websites. These companies have been subjected to fines for their violations.
One notable case involved Casinoscout.nl, an affiliate site that initially promoted only licensed Dutch platforms. Following its acquisition in 2025, Casinoscout.nl began endorsing unlicensed gambling brands, in breach of Dutch laws.
Despite earlier warnings, the platform failed to correct its practices, leading the KSA to ban the site and impose penalties on the responsible companies.
Licenced Operator VBet Faces Challenges with Online Visibility
In parallel, VBet, a licensed operator under the KSA, is encountering difficulties related to online search engine visibility, which has adversely affected its operations. The company has struggled to appear in Google search results for an extended period.
Efforts to resolve this issue through authorities and Google support have yet to yield positive results, prompting VBet to consider seeking assistance from the KSA.
