Intoxicated Lottery Winner Assaults Guest with Pool Cue

The Lottery Winner Hosts Friends at His Residence
Paul Long, a 62-year-old from the UK, gained national attention in 2018 after winning a £9.3 million jackpot from the UK LOTTO. Despite his substantial fortune, Long recently found himself in troubling circumstances.
He visited his local pub where he met a couple and their friend. Long later invited these new acquaintances to his home for drinks, an offer they accepted, unaware of the events that would soon occur.
Unease and Unexpected Violence
As the evening progressed, the friend began sensing a change in Long’s mood, noticing signs of depression as Long consumed more alcohol. Feeling uneasy, the guest decided to record the interactions to document any unusual behavior.
Suddenly, Long became aggressive and struck the guest with a pool cue. Fortunately, the cue only grazed the side of the victim’s head before hitting a cupboard. The attack was caught on the victim’s phone, revealing Long’s forceful swing.
The victim stated that the assault seemed unprovoked and was executed with full strength, which could have caused serious injury.
Aftermath and Attempts at Reconciliation
Following the attack, the guests left Long’s home and contacted the police, although responding officers found no immediate cause for concern.
Paul Long later acknowledged the incident but claimed he had no memory of it due to his intoxication. He expressed a desire to apologize and tried to find the victim at the pub but was unsuccessful.
The couple returned the next day to inform Long of what had happened, to which he responded with an apology.
