IGT and Rhode Island Lottery Renew Partnership Until 2028

The state of Rhode Island maintains a distinct position in the gambling landscape by permitting various forms of gambling yet operating under a single-operator system. In this arrangement, the Rhode Island Lottery chose Bally’s as its primary partner and collaborated with IGT to manage Bally’s sports betting operations within the state.
Extension of IGT Partnership
Originally established in 2018, the contract between IGT and the Rhode Island Lottery was scheduled to conclude this year. However, the Lottery has decided to prolong the partnership despite some critiques of the single-operator format. According to IGT’s announcement, the updated agreement will allow continued use of the IGT PlaySports platform to support retail and mobile sports betting across Rhode Island through at least November 2028.
IGT’s Commitment to Rhode Island’s Betting Market
Joe Bertolone, Senior Vice President of sports betting at IGT, expressed enthusiasm about extending the collaboration, emphasizing the company’s dedication to strengthening the local betting sector. He highlighted efforts to enhance the Sportsbook Rhode Island application to provide an exceptional betting experience that positively contributes to state-supported causes.
Recent Security Incident at Bally’s Rhode Island Casino
Separately, Rhode Island law enforcement recently detained three individuals from Massachusetts suspected of orchestrating a robbery at Bally’s Hotel Casino. The incident, occurring shortly after midnight, involved a hostage situation where a victim was threatened at knifepoint and compelled to relinquish $1,500.
The casino has advised guests to stay alert during late hours, and the event has reignited discussions regarding security measures at gambling venues during nighttime operations.
