Overview of the Upcoming Hollywood Casino Columbus Hotel

Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio is preparing to launch a new, modern hotel tower scheduled to open on June 12, 2026. This new addition will feature 203 guest rooms, including 20 luxury suites, enhancing the casino’s hospitality offerings significantly.

Background and Development Details

The development comes as a result of an agreement made in October 2022 between Penn Entertainment, the parent company of Hollywood Casino Columbus, and GLPI. Under this deal, GLPI committed $350 million to relocate Hollywood Casino Joliet inland in Illinois. The agreement also includes plans to construct new hotels at M Resort in Nevada and at Hollywood Columbus. This deal involves annual rent increases of 1.5% through 2033.

Ohio currently hosts four casinos, with Hollywood Casino Columbus among them. The others include Jack Cleveland, Hard Rock Cincinnati, and Hollywood Toledo. These casinos became possible following a statewide ballot initiative approved by voters in November 2009, after which Penn acquired gaming licenses for both the Columbus and Toledo locations.

The original Hollywood Casino Columbus was built in approximately two years with construction costs estimated around $100 million. In late 2023, Penn Entertainment marked the start of construction of the new hotel tower with a special ceremony, committing to making the venue a prominent entertainment destination in the region.

Features and Amenities of the New Casino Hotel

The new hotel tower will include a full-service bar and restaurant known as The Hill Eatery & Lounge. Guests will also have access to multiple conference rooms suitable for larger gatherings, a spacious outdoor seating area, and a fully equipped fitness center.

Jay Snowden, CEO and President of Penn Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming hotel opening, underscoring its role in positioning Hollywood Casino Columbus as a regional entertainment hub. This launch follows two other recent retail development projects by Penn: a new casino in Joliet and the addition of a second hotel tower at the M Resort.

Spanning 105,000 square feet, the new hotel is anticipated to generate around 100 new job opportunities. Recruitment events are planned for March 27 and April 10 to fill various hotel staff positions. Reservations for the new hotel will open on April 15 through the casino’s official website. A grand opening event featuring an outdoor festival and concert is set for June 12.
