Emerging Landmark on the Las Vegas Strip

Rising from the site where the iconic volcano of the Mirage once captivated visitors, the new Hard Rock Guitar Hotel is beginning to define the skyline of the Las Vegas Strip. The towering 660-foot structure is distinguished by its unique shape inspired by an electric guitar, marking a transformative phase for the property under the ownership of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Transforming the Legacy of the Mirage

The foundation of the hotel unmistakably resembles the bottom curve of an electric guitar, with construction progressing as window panes are now being installed. Scheduled to open by early the fourth quarter of 2027, this expansive resort will feature 3,675 guest rooms, 175,000 square feet devoted to gaming, multiple swimming pools, two spas, entertainment venues, alongside a range of dining and retail options.

This development marks the return of Hard Rock as a major gaming name in Las Vegas, following the original Hard Rock Hotel which operated from 1995 until its closure in 2020. Announced in late 2021, the Seminole Tribe assumed control of the Mirage and closed it in mid-July 2024 to commence the renovation, which will include comprehensive remodeling of hotel rooms and an expansion of casino and convention areas.

As the property transforms, fans of the former Mirage had the opportunity to acquire memorabilia from the legendary venue through a summer auction that featured over 300 sculptures and paintings.

Key Component in the Seminole Tribe’s Vision

The Seminole Tribe has increased its investment in this $4.3 billion project by an additional 7% to enhance entertainment amenities, including larger pools and a redesigned casino floor. Recent structural changes, like removing a pedestrian bridge connecting to Harrah’s, sparked rumors about budget adjustments, though Hard Rock representatives have clarified these moves are strategic to improve guest circulation. The planned northern pedestrian bridge to the Venetian remains part of the development plan.

The project coincides with a prosperous period for the Seminole Tribe, bolstered by strong revenue from their Florida operations. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, for example, has recorded over $2 billion in jackpot payouts for four years running, underscoring the brand’s popularity and the strategic intent to bring that success to Las Vegas.
