Hard Rock Eyes Expansion into UAE with New Ras Al Khaimah Development

Hard Rock Plans Entry into the UAE Market
The iconic Hard Rock hotel brand is preparing to make its first appearance in the United Arab Emirates through a new partnership between db Group and RAK Hospitality Holding. This collaboration will bring a vibrant mixed-use development to Ras Al Khaimah’s scenic beach area.
Details of the New Property
The upcoming Hard Rock project will include 300 hotel rooms alongside 395 branded residences, catering to a large number of visitors. Guests can look forward to diverse dining options including waterfront restaurants and a rooftop bar. The complex will also house an event center, conference facilities, a spa, fitness center, beach club, and several swimming pools.
Moreover, this development is expected to generate approximately 500 permanent jobs, providing significant economic benefits to Ras Al Khaimah.
A Growth Catalyst for Ras Al Khaimah
Todd Hricko, Hard Rock International’s vice president and head of global hotel development, expressed enthusiasm for bringing Hard Rock’s renowned hospitality to this emerging destination. He highlighted the rich cultural and natural attractions that make the UAE an exciting new market.
db Group’s chair, Silvio Debono, expressed pride in spearheading his company’s first major development outside Malta, emphasizing the fusion of their hospitality expertise with Hard Rock’s unique brand to deliver a distinctive lifestyle experience along Ras Al Khaimah’s coast.
Alison Grinnel, CEO of RAK Hospitality Holding, emphasized her company’s commitment to leveraging local insights to foster growth, aiming to position Ras Al Khaimah as a vibrant center for tourism, leisure, and entertainment.
Potential for Future Gaming Development
The initial announcement did not mention any plans for a casino, but this possibility remains open. While casino gaming is a sensitive topic in the UAE, there appears to be a gradual openness among policymakers to consider gaming-related ventures.
For example, Wynn Resorts is actively pursuing the approval of a casino at its Ras Al Khaimah property, slated to open in 2027, which is also developed with support from RAK Hospitality Holding.
In addition, Dubai has already taken steps toward embracing gaming, with companies like Light & Wonder recently obtaining licenses to operate in the region.
