Happy Valley Casino Launches Paid Dealer Training Ahead of 2026 Opening

New Dealer Training Program Starts This December at Happy Valley Casino
Happy Valley Casino, located in State College, is introducing a dealer training course as part of preparations for its grand opening in 2026. This 12-week program will begin this December and will take place at the Nittany Mall, the site of the casino’s construction, a $120 million project.
Flexible Training with Real Casino Experience
The training, under the Happy Valley Dealer School, will offer both day and evening sessions to accommodate various schedules. The program is ideal for students, career changers, or those seeking part-time employment. Participants will receive pay while gaining practical experience in popular casino games including blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and craps. The course emphasizes hands-on learning to help students build confidence and master the skills necessary for working in a lively casino environment.
Building Careers in Gaming
Eric Pearson, the casino manager, highlighted that the school provides more than just card dealing skills. The program is designed to open doors to long-lasting employment within the growing gaming industry. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and comply with Pennsylvania’s regulations for obtaining a dealer’s license. Registration opens on October 1, with classes starting on December 15 and January 5 respectively.
Experienced Leadership and Encouragement
Steve Rinaldi, head of table games at the casino, shares a personal connection to the initiative. Beginning as a dealer at 21, he turned his role into a fulfilling career. Rinaldi believes anyone with dedication and enthusiasm can succeed here. The program ensures participants develop all the necessary technical skills essential for the job.
Transforming Nittany Mall into a Premier Casino Destination
Scheduled to open in spring 2026, the new casino will occupy the former Macy’s space at Nittany Mall. It is projected to create approximately 300 jobs and will feature around 750 slot machines, 30 table games, a restaurant, a bar, and a quick dining option. Although there will be no physical sportsbook, online betting options will remain available to Pennsylvania residents.
Partnerships and Progress
The Happy Valley Casino project is a collaboration between SC Gaming OpCo, led by Pennsylvania businessman Ira Lubert, and Saratoga Casino Holdings, which acquired a majority stake earlier this year. The dealer school represents a significant early step in gearing up for the casino’s launch. Interested candidates can find more information and enroll through the casino’s official website.
