Station Casinos to Reopen Green Valley Ranch Poker Room

Station Casinos Set to Revive Poker at Green Valley Ranch
Station Casinos recently confirmed that live poker will make a comeback at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, located just a short 15-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip. This venue is poised to be the first poker room, closed amid the pandemic, to resume operations since 2021.
Details of the Poker Room Reopening
The poker room at Green Valley Ranch showcases a nostalgic, retro interior, reminiscent of classic poker halls, with warm red tones and a distinct burgundy floral carpet. Scheduled to reopen in December, the room will operate 24 hours a day and will feature 16 poker tables, a reduction from the previous 22 tables.
Players can expect to find cash games and tournaments in several popular variants, including fixed-limit hold ’em, no-limit hold ’em, pot-limit Omaha, and Omaha hi/lo. This reopening will leave Green Valley Ranch as one of only 19 active poker rooms remaining in Las Vegas, down from over 60 in the early 2000s. Although it would have been the 20th, the Poker Palace Casino is closing on October 1 and plans to return without poker under new management.
Station Casinos’ Growth and Expansion Plans
The revival of the poker room at Green Valley Ranch is part of Station Casinos’ wider growth strategy for 2025. Earlier this year, the company began expanding its Durango property, adding more than 25,000 square feet of new casino space scheduled to open in 2026.
The Evolving Poker Landscape in Las Vegas
Since the poker boom tapered off around 2012, approximately 40 poker rooms in Las Vegas have closed their doors. During the pandemic, Green Valley Ranch’s poker room was converted into a smoke-free slot machine area, a change rarely reversed as slot machines typically generate more revenue for casinos.
Unlike poker, which provides revenue through rake and tournament fees, slot machines deliver a direct house advantage and more profit per square foot. Yet, due to strong player interest, Station Casinos has decided to bring poker back to Green Valley Ranch.
Ken Janssen, Vice President and General Manager of Green Valley Ranch, explained that this decision responds to customer demand. He also mentioned that the poker room’s return is part of a larger $200 million renovation currently underway at the property, promising numerous exciting enhancements.
