Gold Strike Casino Resort Workers Join Teamsters Local 667

Gold Strike Casino Resort Employees Unionize
Workers at the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi have successfully unionized by joining Teamsters Local 667, a Memphis-based labor organization. This development means that the casino staff will now have formal representation ensuring fair treatment and better working conditions.
Teamsters Local 667 Expands Its Membership
The unionization was achieved through a card-check process where the majority of Gold Strike employees signed authorization cards, officially affiliating with Teamsters Local 667. Approximately 280 workers including housekeepers, food and beverage staff, and cocktail servers secured the benefits of union representation. This gives them more collective influence to advocate for higher wages, enhanced benefits, and improved workplace standards.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, established in 1903, has grown into a powerful labor union with around 1.3 million members across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Teamsters continue to strengthen their presence in various sectors including the casino industry.
Motivation Behind Unionizing
Erica Guerrero, a cocktail waitress and new member of Local 667 at Gold Strike, shared that she and her colleagues recognized the advantages of joining the union. She expressed a renewed sense of empowerment and confidence in advocating for fair pay and better working conditions.
James E. Jones III, president of Local 667, welcomed the new members and emphasized that this addition represents growth in their ability to support casino workers locally. He praised their determination and commitment to collective strength.
Tommy Blitsch, director of the Teamsters Convention, Trade Show, and Casino Division, highlighted the significance of this unionization success as part of broader efforts to improve labor standards in the casino industry. He expressed optimism for continued progress and an expanding union influence in the sector.
Connecting Union Efforts in the Casino Industry
This victory follows similar movements like the Horseshoe Casino Indianapolis workers joining Teamsters Local 135 in December 2025. Additionally, other unions such as the United Auto Workers have shown their solidarity with casino employees seeking to organize, as seen recently at Hard Rock Casino Rockford.
