Genting Reveals Grand Vision for Resorts World New York City

Genting New York, a subsidiary of Genting Malaysia operating in the United States, has shared its ambitious proposal with the Community Advisory Committee as competition intensifies for the three coveted downstate casino licenses.

Transforming Resorts World Into the Largest Casino Resort in the State

The proposal aims to transform Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) into the state’s largest integrated casino resort. Genting plans major additions including upscale amenities and the most extensive gaming space among all submitted casino proposals so far.

The company projects that construction could be completed within a year, targeting a July 2026 opening, contingent on receiving all necessary regulatory approvals promptly and commencing work immediately after securing their license.

As part of the bid, Genting has partnered with Cirrus Workforce Housing to develop up to 50,000 workforce housing units throughout New York City. Additionally, they plan to invest $50 million into a new Resorts World Innovation Campus.

RWNYC Expansion to Feature Extensive Gaming and Entertainment Facilities

The planned investment of approximately $5.5 billion would significantly expand the casino’s footprint. The proposal includes adding around 6,000 slot machines and 800 gaming tables to the existing inventory, spreading across a 500,000 square foot gaming area. The development is expected to support about 10,800 jobs.

Beyond gaming, the resort will feature 2,000 hotel rooms, roughly 7,000 parking spots, numerous retail stores and dining options, ample green spaces, a spa, and a 7,000-seat arena for entertainment and events.

Commitment to Community Impact and Growth

Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, emphasized the company’s dedication to the Queens community, where it has operated for nearly 15 years. He expressed confidence that this proposal will be transformative not only for Resorts World New York City but also for the wider neighborhood, city, and state.

DeSalvio highlighted that since receiving the Aqueduct site license in 2010, the company has focused on being a positive community partner by providing 1,000 union jobs, investing millions locally, and cultivating strong community relationships.

He added that the new plan reflects Genting’s ongoing promise to invest more significantly in the local community and economy.
