Flutter and CME Group Launch FanDuel Predicts Platform

Flutter Entertainment, a leader in the gambling industry, is entering the prediction markets arena through a strategic collaboration between its FanDuel brand and CME Group. This partnership is set to introduce the FanDuel Predicts app, designed to meet the rising interest in event-based contracts.
FanDuel Predicts Launching in December
Flutter has officially announced that FanDuel has partnered with CME Group, a global leader in derivatives markets, to roll out the FanDuel Predicts application. This innovative platform will provide millions of fans across the United States with access to a variety of event contract markets.
The app is scheduled for release in December as a standalone mobile application, pending final regulatory approvals. It will feature contracts based on major sports events including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.
Since prediction markets are distinct from traditional sports betting, this platform will be accessible even in states where sports betting remains illegal. FanDuel has committed to discontinuing event contracts in states that eventually legalize sports betting.
Beyond sports, FanDuel Predicts will offer contracts tied to key economic indicators such as the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, oil prices, cryptocurrencies, gold, and other financial benchmarks.
Security and responsible gaming measures will be a priority, with protections familiar to existing FanDuel users. The app will educate users about prediction markets, provide usage guidance, and offer tools to prevent overspending.
New players will go through a comprehensive know your customer (KYC) procedure, requiring the submission of personal details before gaining access to event contracts, which will be priced from as little as one cent up to ninety-nine cents.
A Pioneering Partnership
The collaboration merges FanDuel’s user-friendly technology with CME Group’s century-long expertise in derivatives and risk management, described by both parties as a pioneering alliance.
Amy Howe, CEO of FanDuel, expressed enthusiasm about expanding into this fresh market, highlighting the importance of CME Group’s seasoned knowledge in guiding the launch.
Our partnership with CME Group allows us to leverage their deep market expertise built over decades while delivering the seamless, accessible experience our customers expect.

Terry Duffy, CEO and Chairman of CME Group, echoed the positive outlook, anticipating that contracts tied to economic trends will attract a new wave of participants.
Duffy noted that this launch will broaden their market reach by connecting directly with FanDuel’s extensive user base in the U.S.
Despite the optimistic reception, the introduction of FanDuel Predicts has faced criticism from tribal gaming authorities concerned about unregulated prediction and sweepstakes platforms.
