Evoke Implements Key Board Leadership Changes

Evoke, a prominent gaming company known for brands like Mr Green, William Hill, and 888, has recently announced significant changes within its board of directors. The company revealed the departure of its board chair, Lord Jon Mendelsohn, and welcomed new leadership appointments to strengthen its governance.

Departure of Lord Jon Mendelsohn

Lord Jon Mendelsohn has chosen to step down from his roles as chair and non-executive director after over five years of dedicated service. He initially joined the board in September 2020 and served as interim executive chair in 2023 before being appointed as the full-time chair. During his tenure, Mendelsohn played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s growth and strategic initiatives.

New Leadership Appointments

Following Mendelsohn’s exit, Evoke has appointed Mark Summerfield as its new permanent non-executive chair and Anne de Kerckhove as the permanent deputy chair. Both are long-serving members of Evoke’s board with extensive experience within the company.

Mark Summerfield joined Evoke in September 2019 and has held various roles, including non-executive director and chair of both the Audit & Risk Committee and the Gaming Compliance Committee. He is also involved with the ESG Committee. Upon his appointment as chair, Summerfield will step down from his chairmanship of the Audit & Risk Committee, with Limot Ganot temporarily stepping into that role.

Anne de Kerckhove has been part of Evoke’s board since November 2017. While taking on the role of deputy chair, she will continue as senior independent director and maintain her leadership of the Nominations and ESG Committees, as well as her position on the Remuneration Committee.

Reflections on Transition

Lord Jon Mendelsohn expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Evoke’s journey, particularly highlighting his involvement in the acquisition of William Hill and shaping the company’s long-term growth strategy. He considers this period an ideal moment to transfer leadership to Summerfield.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at the Company over the past five years and would like to thank my fellow Board members, the executive team, and the wider organisation for their utmost and unwavering commitment.”

Mark Summerfield shared his respect and admiration for Mendelsohn’s leadership, stating it has been a career highlight to work alongside him. Summerfield looks forward to collaborating closely with Anne de Kerckhove and the board to continue driving Evoke’s success.

Evoke’s CEO, Per Widerström, also expressed his appreciation for Mendelsohn’s service and confidence in the abilities of Summerfield and de Kerckhove as they step into their new roles to further the company’s development.
